Santuario de las Luciernagas, Tlaxcala. México. 2016
To watch thousands of fireflies flying, as if they were dancing, in a forest that seems to be enchanted when the night falls, is poetry for the eyes. In those moments, you ask yourself: "am I dreaming?” Thank God it is not a dream, but a reality located just an hour and a half of Mexico City, in one of the two world's largest firefly’s sanctuaries. The more I get to know my country, the less I feel the need to photograph others.
After photographing them, I stopped to just enjoy the spectacle of that magical night. After 15 minutes of watching them, in total darkness, my eyes began to drain tears, appreciating the beauty that they were witnessing.
